Traditional Entertainment Certificated People

Since 1996 Ookini Zaidan has awarded people who have long career in hanamachi and as a result, have acquired excellent skill of traditional entertainment. At the same time, they are certificated for their career and skill. After the certification, Ookini Zaidan asks them further contribution to hanamachi culture, for example, to hand down their skill to the next generation. In 2004, four people were awarded and certificated: Dan-ei from Gion Kobu, Miyatsuru and Fudeya from Pontocho, Masako from Gion Higashi.
(As for 2004, 25 people have awarded (17 are still at work): 8 are dancers and 17 are music players or singers).
